Our Story
Vanessa is a Board Certified Light Therapist through the Board of Advanced Natural Health Sciences and specializes in Photobiomodulation Therapy (commonly known as Red-Light Therapy). Her expertise helps ensure clients receive safe, effective, and evidence-informed treatments designed to support wellness, recovery, performance, and rejuvenation.
Committed to ongoing professional development, Vanessa has also earned her SSRP Certification in Peptide Therapy through advanced education taught by multiple Medical Doctors (MDs) and Physician Assistants (PAs). This specialized training included peptide science, mechanisms of action, clinical applications, safety considerations, patient education, and evidence-based wellness protocols. This additional education strengthens AK Wellness & Tanning LLC’s ability to provide informed guidance and support for clients interested in medically guided peptide therapy programs.
In addition to light therapy and peptide education, Vanessa is a Certified Compression Specialist and Pressotherapy Specialist, having completed advanced training in Pneumatic Compression Therapy. She is also certified in the specialized field of Infrared Saunas and Body Wraps, offering clients comprehensive wellness services that promote relaxation, circulation, recovery, and overall well-being.

A native Texan, Dr. Crystal Broussard’s journey from personal weight loss to professional expertise has shaped her career in medicine. After earning her undergraduate degree from Lamar University and her medical degree from The University of Texas–Houston, she completed her family medicine residency in Conroe and began her practice in The Woodlands in 2005.
Inspired by her own personal and family history with obesity, Dr. Broussard found her calling in medical weight management. After losing 100 pounds following the birth of her first child, she developed a passion for helping patients take control of their health. She now specializes in safe, physician-supervised weight loss programs that emphasize sustainable, long-term lifestyle changes.
Dr. Broussard is board-certified in Family Medicine and became a fellow of the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2012. She is also an active member of the Obesity Medical Association and serves on task forces to educate other healthcare professionals on treating obesity.
A recognized expert in the field, Dr. Broussard was featured as a medical expert for The Pink Method, a nutrition and exercise program for women that appeared on Dr. Phil and The Doctors Show. She also co-hosted the program’s infomercial, which aired nationally. Dr. Broussard continues to provide her weight loss expertise locally and nationally through various media outlets and telemedicine, while also dedicating her time to teaching medical students and residents how to effectively treat obesity.
As a functional medicine doctor, Dr. Broussard has also gone on to become a Fellow, American Academy of Anti-Aging & Regenerative Medicine (A4M) and a Member of Age Management Medicine Group (AMMG), International Hormone Society (IHS) and the and American College of Integrative Medicine.

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment you must call at least an hour before your appointment, we do ask that you give us as much notice as possible so we can try to fill that time slot.
